Dee Mahan | President | San Antonio, Texas

PL/B programmer, instructor and support superstar since 1973

Dee's I.T. career began in 1973 with Datapoint Corporation. She developed and led DSCRIBE training courses for Datapoint customers, in-house staff, and Systems Engineers. After leaving Datapoint in 1976, she went on to perform applications programming over the next fifteen years for various companies using DATABUS on Datapoint DOS and RMS systems and PCBUS on Intel systems. Dee later returned to Datapoint as the Systems Engineer supporting DATABUS and training programmers worldwide. During her tenure at Datapoint she also began developing in Visual PL/B for Windows. In 1995, she went to work at Sunbelt Computer Systems as their Systems Engineer for the PL/B language, developing and teaching the first Visual PL/B training classes, and presenting at users' conferences. Since establishing Visual deeDesigns in 1998, Dee has developed software for a wide variety of industries using Sunbelt Visual PL/B, PL/B.NET, DataManager, and Application Server. Some of her more notable projects include: grocery store inventory management, forex and commodities trading management, insurance underwriting, document storage and retrieval, manufacturing systems, order entry/point of sale, grant and fund management, accounting systems (AR/AP/GL/Payroll), retail and back office systems, warehouse management and relationship management applications. Dee comes from a family of musicians, and is an accomplished bassist and vocalist. She also claims to be an avid Star Trek fan – however, doubts persist due to the lack of photographic evidence that she has ever attended a convention in full costume.

Tim Morrow | Programmer | San Antonio, Texas

PL/B developer and support specialist with over 30 years involvement with the Databus and PL/B communities

Tim's background is in the support, maintenance, and development of application and systems software. Tim has over 30 years of experience with the DATABUS and PL/B languages used with Datapoint RMS systems and Windows systems. Tim was also part of the Datapoint service team which performed training, system software and hardware installation, systems diagnostic and other on-site activities at client locations worldwide.
Tim also proudly served in the U.S. Air Force with four years of active duty as a systems programmer. He is a native of the world having been a USAF military brat with close ties to England, as his mother was English. Tim was also born in England while his father was stationed there.
During his spare time, Tim enjoys following various sports. For football, this includes watching teams that play with a round football in the Premier League matches (soccer for those of us in the US). He also likes to discover "new" TV series that for one reason or another were not viewed when originally aired.

Mike Keech | Programmer | North Bay, Ontario

PL/B developer with over 30 years involvement with the Databus and PL/B communities

Mike started in the PC world before there were PCs, building his own systems from 8080 chipsets. He has programmed in various dialects of assembler, DATABUS, DASL, PLBWIN and and worked on projects ranging from electronic banking to national defense. In the 1980's, Mike worked in "The Hole", AKA C.F.B./NORAD North Bay, Canada's answer to Cheyenne Mountain, built to protect NORAD's command-and-control over nuclear rockets and whatnot.
In his off hours, Mike enjoys growing orchids and building rockets (the model kind, not the nuclear kind).

Doug Hunter | Programmer | Tampa, Florida

PL/B developer with over 30 years experience

Prior to working in information systems, Doug held a position as a nuclear chemist. Doug's I.T. experience includes over ten years of ERP evaluation, installation, and conversion; warehouse automation; RF and mobile networking; and designing, installing, and maintaining retail, payroll, and financial reporting systems. He specializes in SQL development for applications and report writing, business objects and report deployment – and also develops software using Visual PL/B, Visual Basic, Visual C++, and PHP. Additionally, Doug led a Microsoft ISV Certification project for Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Doug is a combined eight year veteran of the New York, New Hampshire, and Maryland Army National Guards and recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. He also served for over five years with the Yaphank Volunteer Fire Department with the rank of Lieutenant. During his downtime you can often find Doug relaxing by playing tennis and softball.

Tim Keech | Programmer | North Bay, Ontario

Software development and infrastructure specialist with over 30 years involvement with the Databus and PL/B communities

Tim's exposure to computer technology started long ago in to 70's during high school, flipping toggles and loading paper tape into the ubiquitous DEC PDP11. This led to a Computer Science bachelor's degree from the University of Toronto. After completing his formal education Tim continued to grow his knowledge base and skill set working in software development and infrastructure support for companies such as TRW Data Systems, Datapoint Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation and most recently, Knox Hutchison Insurance Brokers. From a software perspective, Tim's specialty is with the Sunbelt suite of PL/B products, from character mode to Web client applications. In addition, he has programmed in various other industry standard languages such as VB.NET, SQL, Python. From an infrastructure support perspective, he has managed environments ranging from tens to thousands of users. Specializing in Microsoft products, he has significant experience with Windows Server, Exchange, SQL server, Hyper-V virtualization, Azure cloud services and Office 365 and their underlying communications and networking infrastructures.
When not developing business applications, Tim is an avid fan of auto mechanics, busily repairing and restoring various vehicles in his garage.

Al Saliwanchik | Programmer | Dayton, Ohio

PL/B developer with over 30 years experience

Al has been providing software services such as needs analysis, process improvement, custom design, selection, and implementation for over 30 years. As former VP, Director of Technology, and minority owner for Horizon Payroll Services; he designed, developed, and supported all the software used by Horizon for their clients. The software included Payroll and Tax Filing (extensive ACH electronic payment transactions), General Ledger, Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable, Bank Reconciliation, Inventory, Job Cost, Retail Point of Sale, Pharmaceutical, Wholesale/Distribution Management, including applications that run on hand-held devices.
Alan is a member of Ta-Wa-Si of Dayton (men’s networking group) as a Past President. He is an Information Technology volunteer at The Dakota Center, a local community center, and is a Board Member and a past Board President. Alan plays a "form" of baseball with the No Bats Baseball Club (www.nobats.com) and the Cincinnati Reds Fantasy Baseball Camp.  He is a board member of the Baseball Heaven Alumni Association.  BHAA is a non-profit group that raises and donates money to help children play baseball.  www.bhaa.us

Dr Bill Leidy | Programmer | Norman, Oklahoma

PL/B developer with over 30 years experience

"Doctor Bill" has a diverse background as a professor, owner of a software development firm, and Information Systems director. He has managed a wide array of I.T. projects, some of which include: designing and actualizing an ISP organization which served over 20,000 customers; serving as Director of I.T. at a multi-state telecommunications company; developing a fleet management system designed to monitor fleet vehicle operations such as fueling, maintenance, and cost tracking; and a retail purchasing and inventory system for a national clothing chain. He has also specialized in the international finance, livestock management, accounting, and insurance sectors. Bill develops primarily in Visual PL/B.NET and is a certified Visual PL/B and PL/BCGI programmer. He also possesses skills at programming in VB.NET, COBOL, RPG, and HTML.
Bill holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from North Texas State University, and Master's Degrees in Music and Education from the University of Missouri. When he's not at his computer, look up and you might find him over head: he's also a licensed pilot.
